Preparations for a very uncertain future. . .

2 Weeks Without ‘Doomer Porn’ – A Survivor’s Tale

My oldest son, Stephen got married last weekend to the nicest girl anyone could ever wish to gain as a daughter-in-law.  They are both honeymooning in Italy and I’m still on cloud nine from the wedding and the joyous party afterwards.  I mention this in my Practical Prepping Blog to illustrate a point.  It’s important, every once in a while to give all the ‘doom and gloom’ a rest and refresh your mind and body with some good, old-fashioned fun.  My son’s wedding afforded me the opportunity (much needed, if I might add) to take my mind off of all the bad news for a while and just enjoy myself.  I actually got in 18 holes of what one could refer to in a purely academic sense as ‘golf’.  That is to say, I had a set of clubs and endeavored to hit that impossibly small ball without killing anyone in the process.  Despite the 90 degree heat and south Florida humidity, I had a great time playing with my son, soon to be son-in-law and father-in-law.  And, this weekend, I actually ran my first 5K – if you can call doing it in 38 minutes – running. I loved every sweaty, painful minute of it.

So, simply put:  every once in a while you need to stop with Gerald Celente , Bob Chapman, Cliff High and George Ure (of web-bot fame), and even our beloved JohnGaltFla Doom-And-Gloom and spend some time with your family doing, well. . . . . nothing.  Nothing but having fun.  After all, what good is prepping if all that time and money cannot buy you enough peace of mind to take a few weeks off from all the SHTF forum posts and podcasts.  Think about it.

Think about it and go have have some fun.  The Doomer Porn will be there when you get back.  But YOU will have a whole new, refreshed outlook and an renewed appetite for one of Galt’s Deathburgers.
